Kek Lok Si Temple

Though I'm not religious, I like religious places, be it a Church, Temple or Mosque.

Simply saying, I like the peaceful ambiance over there. Also, I like to see the virtues that people carry out at the place, as well as their facial expression. Deep inside us, we do have some wishes that we hope it will come true miraculously one day, and only the mighty GOD can make it happen, right?

Back to the time when I lived in Penang, we used to go to Kek Lok Si Temple at night time. I remember once the place was lighted with thousand of lanterns. To me at the time, it's romantic enough.

After leaving for so many years, it's great to have visited Kek Lok Si again, the largest Buddhist temple in Southeast Asia. Actually, I didn't quite remember how it looks like, just remember the feelings I had had in this place.

Just above the Kek Lok Si temple is an imposing statue of Kuan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy. This massive bronze effigy rises to a height of about 100 ft/30 m, and was just recently opened to the public in 2002. It's accessible by either a 1 km walk/hike, or by inclined lift for RM 4 ($1) round-trip.

The boys were calmer when they see the statues of various Buddha in one of the halls.

Lucky we, happen to see a 'si-fu' who was carrying his prayer at the hall at that time.

I didn't know if they were tired or it's very hot outside or what, they sat there for quite a long time. I just let them.

I don't quite remember have I ever seen this hall before, maybe it's new?

Boy, he really thinks it's perfectly ok to just sit there and read his comic book...

Husband bought him a "pineapple" cup-caddle to worship the Kuan Yin.

Very good looking design, convenient too.

I think the wall paintings over there are very artistic and beautiful.

Son sat there to read his favorite comic book again. We felt peaceful to look at him in that way.

But it's too hot to walk to the top, we stopped at the 3rd floor, then took a break here.

At one corner, saw this 'si fu' was busy writing something on the China brick. His hand writing is very firm and beautiful. (Each brick was sold with RM50)

What was he thinking at that time? Or he just did it for fun? I didn't ask him though.

Son, I hope you have found some peace in your mind, and you will remember that feelings for a long time, just like I do.

Lata Kinjang Waterfall

After the Kuala Woh excursion...

To my mom, her next stop was to-go-home, cause the sky has turned dark and thunderstorm seem to come soon.

To KS and I, our next stop was definitely not to-go-home. We have other plan. Besides, how could we just by pass the so-called one of the highest waterfalls in Malaysia, right?

Mother-in-law and her son-in-law. They are quite clinched. Both of them are realistic and rationale sort of person.

Lata Kinjang majestic waterfall is visible along the trunk road that passes by the rubber tree plantations, some Malays villages and the areas inhabited by the Orang Asli aborigines. We parked our car in the Orang Asli territories. Instantly, a boy came forward and handed us a parking ticket that cost RM3. Guess their main income is come from the collection of parking fee, not from the sales of those stuffs as displayed in their stalls.

As we approaching the waterfall, we are able to see clearly the water flowing downstream, and feel the cool breeze touching our skin and smell the freshness of air. How's that?

The main attraction at this Late Kinjang Waterfall is its impressive series of cascades winding down a 850 meters, from the side of a mountain. Standing in front of it, the sight is indeed spectacular enough.

The waterfall consists of 3 parts :-
(i) the bottom pool and cascade
(ii) the steep fall visible from North-South Express way.
(iii) the top. A walkway takes you up to the second part.

There are forest trails and guided overnight excursions to visit the villages near the top of the forest waterfall.

Look how much fun these boys were having in the pool. Many times, we heard them screaming : Oh, sejuk, sejuk...

KS took the boys to the end of this point and told them "sejuk" means the water is freaking cold, not good for them to play water here.

Since we didn't plan to play water in that exciting big pool nor take a hike to somewhere, there is nothing much to do around here. After some 20 minutes time, we walked the same path to return to our car.

The middle of this suspension bridge is a good location for taking pictures though. See below...

The scenery around the area is absolutely very natural.

Don't know if those berries are edible or not?

The house of Orang Asli. Life can be that simple and original for them.

My mom sure knows the weather better than I do. Soon when we reached home at around 6pm, it rain like cats and dogs.
